I was so excited to meet with this family because I have already had the pleasure of working with them back in July when I did Mr. T’s seven year portrait session. This time it was not only Mr. T, but also mom and dad and the grandparents. Mr.T is so handsome so of course he has a beautiful family as well. It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining and the skies were blue. The weather feeling like autumn with slightly cool temperatures. What better way to spend the afternoon than with this fun family at The Carl Sandburg Home in Flat Rock, NC. This location has been a favorite of theirs for years so it made perfect sense to do their family session there. I really had a great time and I hope they did too. Thanks for letting this “Yankee” feel like I was a part of your beautiful family for a brief time on that gorgeous autumn day.

Okay so not really any puppy dog tails here. However, there is one adorable boy to put up on my blog today. I had the sweet pleasure of photographing Little Mr. B again. I did mom’s maternity and then did his newborn pics when he wasn’t even two weeks old. I just love when I get to see “my” babies again and be amazed at how much they have grown and changed in what seems like the blink of an eye. Little Mr. B was still one of the most mild tempered and sweetest baby boys around. He was so happy when we set him down on the ground to play with the leaves. So quietly he would contemplate them before popping one in his mouth.
He was such a doll and so nice to photograph. So easy to see why he is so adored by mom and dad. Here is a bit of a peek at our session. I hope you enjoy it!

So every time that mom would hold him I would think, Oh! he looks just like her! But then when dad would hold him I would think, Oh! he looks just like him! LOL. So what do you think, does he look more like mom or dad?

I have been so lucky with my clients. I truly get the nicest clients in the world. This wonderful family was no exception. The two kids were so well mannered and so cooperative. Brother wants to be a professional drummer and I can totally see him doing that. I am sure mom and dad will be thrilled with the years of practice in their home. :-) Sister is still not sure what she wants to do but I have a feeling that super model may be an option for her someday. Has anyone else noticed how much prettier teen girls are now than back in the days of the dinosaurs when I was a teen? Goodness she is beautiful!
I hope you all enjoy this little peek of our afternoon together. I think the traffic jams and the dodging then chasing the right light was all worth it.
Mom and dad you have beautiful, beautiful children!

You can imagine my delight when I was met at the door by these two gorgeous, adorable girls and their beautiful mom (who is expecting baby girl number 3 soon). What a lucky daddy that lives in this home to be surrounded by these beautiful girls. I had such fun spending some time on a late summer afternoon with them. I can’t wait to meet the new baby girl soon. What a wonderful life she will have with these two sweet girls as her big sisters.
I hope you enjoy this little sneak peek of our session.

Have you ever seen a more perfect belly?

The day was hot. At over 100 degrees hot is an understatement. But we didn’t let the heat spoil our fun. We had a great time exploring a park with rocks, waterfalls, big trees and plenty of room to run (or skateboard). Mr. T just turned seven and it was my good luck to be able to capture him during this grand time of childhood. He was such fun with a million different expressions. Just asking him about his favorite word would bring out contagious laughter. Don’t ask what this favorite word is though. I have to keep it a secret.
He was just so natural and relaxed in front of the camera and just sooo good looking. This boy would be perfect as an actor or model. Sorry though girls. T is already taken. So Mr. T and family here is a peek at your session. Enjoy!

My favorite:

Is it any wonder how he got to be so good-looking? What a beautiful family!!

Remember those darling boys….more fun than a barrel of monkeys? Well mom and dad decided that they wanted in on the “fun” too so we set up a mini session to get a few family shots during these last few glorious days of autumn. It is never easy to photograph toddlers but the kids were so cute and the day was so beautiful that it really was a great time. Mom and dad thanks so much for your patience while we tried to find the “right” light. By the way, mom has the most beautiful eyes ever! I hope you enjoy your sneak peek. The rest of the pics will be ready soon. Thanks so much!

What is more fun than a barrel of monkeys? These two adorable brothers. We decided to meet at the beautiful, historic Woodfield Inn in Flat Rock, NC. Lots of nooks and crannies around the property for some fun for two boys and a workout for mom and this photographer! We were happy to see dad stop by to give us a hand. LOL. I had a blast spending a gorgeous fall afternoon with these two sweet boys. Thanks mom! I hope you all enjoy your sneak peek.

I believe we may have a cure for the next drought that the Carolinas may experience. This beautiful family and I have decided that next time we need rain we only need to book a session together. We booked three different sessions that we had to cancel because of rain. For each one we would look at the weather forecast…even checking it the day of our session. Each time there would be almost no chance of rain but lo and behold as soon as I pulled into their drive the sky would darken and the thunder would start to roll. It was beginning to get comical. But finally we lucked out. Unfortunately dad was out of the country the week we did the pictures so we will have to do the family session another time. (And keep our fingers crossed that it doesn’t rain.) But for this session the sun was shining and the sky was that gorgeous Carolina blue that is so familiar to us in this part of the country.
So here is your sneak peek. You have such beautiful children. They truly are gorgeous.

I love this cool guitar!

Having raised three boys (well four if you count my husband) I know all the blessings that come with that. My boys are all grown now so it was fun for me to spend the time with these three boys and their mom. It brought back many memories to my mind and heart. All too soon these three will also be men and mom you will have wondered where the time has gone. I am so happy to have captured some memories for you and I hope these will be some that you will treasure in the years to come.
Noah, Ben, and Issac.

The boys and their beautiful mom.

Look how high Ben can jump!! I love the joy on his face!

Fifteen years ago when I was pregnant with my fourth child, my husband and I were having one of those late night talks and we calculated that someday we would have three teenagers in the house at the same time. Whoa! That seemed scary. How would we survive?! But at the time those years still seemed so far off. However, as parents especially understand, the years pass far too quickly. Legos, Tonka trucks, baby dolls and ballet shoes are all too soon replaced by cell phones, driver’s licenses, make up and iPods. Those late nights where we walked the floors with a croupy baby are gone. Now we lie awake at night waiting for those headlights to appear in the drive, to hear their key in the door. My second son turns twenty today. Those years of having three teenagers in our home at the same time are now over as quickly as they came upon us. And I am happy to say that not only did we survive those years but we enjoyed them far more than I could have imagined. So yesterday I did a quick photo session in our backyard to honor those years. At first they all grumbled but soon we were all laughing and having fun. It was over within an hour but I will remember it always. Thank you my three middle ones for giving me this moment. And for giving me memories that in the years to come will bring a tear to my eye and a smile on my face.
